Free Knit Panda Applique Pattern

This free knitting pattern of a panda applique. This is perfect for adding a safety pin and turning it into a pin or brooch. Or stitch it to your coat or backpack. The pattern is super quick, and uses a fair isle technique to get the coloring of the panda’s face. Using only bits of leftover fabric, you can knit up several of these so quickly! Makes a perfect quick knit gift for a panda lover.

  • Cascade 220 wool yarn (or other worsted weight yarn) in black and white
    – White: 3 yards or less
    – Black: 3 pieces of black yarn (1 cut to 36″ for the nose and eyes and the other 2 cut to 16″ for the ears)
    Note: you will need to block your panda in order for him to lay flat, so choose colors that don’t run.

  • Needles: size 6 (or use any size to create your desired size panda)

  • Knit
  • Purl
  • Casting On
  • SSK – Slip Slip Knit
  • K2Tog – Knit 2 stitches together
  • Make 1 increases
